Dr. Mattia Mazzucchelli awarded a Humboldt Fellowship

We are happy to announce that Mattia has been awarded the prestigious Humboldt Fellowship, starting in June 2021. Mattia joined M3ODEL as a post-doc in October 2020 to investigate how phase equilibria are affected by the non-hydrostatic stresses that are developed in the Earth during mineral and rock deformation. The multiscale and interdisciplinary nature of this project makes it a perfect fit for M3ODEL. He plans to collaborate with other PIs, mainly with Prof. Evangelos Moulas and Prof. Boris Kaus, who are expert in the application of solid-state simulations and continuum mechanics to geological prob-lems, but alsowith Prof. Thomas Speck, who leads the Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics Group, to develop the MD simulations required to investigate phase equilibria at selected non-hydrostatic conditions.
